Aluminum Sheet

Aluminum sheet is flat-rolled product ordered by alloy, full temper, thickness, width, length, tolerance, flatness, surface class, grain direction and protective-film requirement.

Common grades

Specifications and dimensions

  • Thickness, width and length with alloy-, temper- and thickness-specific tolerances
  • Flatness, diagonal, edge, grain direction and residual-stress control where required
  • Mill finish, anodizing quality, brushed finish, tread pattern or protective film

Standards and supply condition

  • ASTM B209/B209M for aluminum and aluminum-alloy sheet and plate
  • EN 485 series for applicable European flat-rolled aluminum products

Manufacturing and processing

  • Cast slab is homogenized, hot rolled and cold rolled to gauge before final heat treatment or strain hardening.
  • Leveling, stretching, shearing, sawing, surface finishing and film application complete the order.

Typical applications

  • Transport bodies and marine fabrication
  • Enclosures, signs and architectural panels
  • Machined components and general sheet-metal work

Quality and acceptance controls

  • Verify the registered alloy and complete temper designation against the certificate and ordered product standard.
  • Check dimensions, applicable tolerance table, flatness or straightness, surface class, edge and permitted defects.
  • Control film, interleaving, dryness, contact materials, handling and export packing to prevent staining and damage.

Include in your RFQ

  • Registered alloy and complete temper designation
  • Governing product specification and unit system
  • Dimensions, tolerances, quantity and grain-direction requirement
  • Surface class, finish, film, edge and processing requirement
  • Mechanical, conductivity, ultrasonic or other test and certificate requirements
  • Packing, moisture protection, destination and delivery term

Selection limits

  • Sheet and plate terminology follows the ordered standard and thickness range; it is not universal across markets.
  • Marine or aerospace use requires the exact product specification, temper and supplementary controls, not alloy reputation alone.
