5052 Aluminum Strip

Procurement guide for 5052 aluminum strip and slit coil, covering full temper, thickness, slit width, edge, coil geometry, surface, forming, inspection and protective packing.

03Grade-product

Specifications and dimensions

  • Order by complete temper, thickness and slit width, using the applicable ASTM B209/B209M tolerance table for the ordered range.
  • Define coil ID, OD, maximum mass, winding direction, telescoping, camber, flatness, edge burr and edge-wave limits.
  • Specify mill finish, surface cleanliness, protective film or interleaving and the required downstream presentation.

Standards and supply condition

  • ASTM B209/B209M for applicable aluminum-alloy sheet supplied in coils
  • Aluminum Association alloy and temper designation framework

Manufacturing and processing

  • 5052 rolling stock is hot rolled and cold reduced, then annealed or strain hardened to the ordered temper before precision slitting and recoiling.
  • Tension leveling, edge conditioning, cleaning, film application and controlled winding are separate order controls.

Typical applications

  • Formed enclosures, appliance and HVAC components where the selected temper supports the fabrication route.
  • Transport, marine and general corrosion-resistant strip fabrication after design review.
  • Stamped brackets, covers, trim and fabricated components with controlled edge and surface requirements.

Quality and acceptance controls

  • Match alloy, complete temper, cast/coil identity and certified properties to the material certificate.
  • Map thickness and width across the slit coil; inspect camber, flatness, telescoping, winding tension, edges and surface.
  • Validate forming, bend radius, paint/adhesive, welding or anodizing compatibility on representative material where critical.

Include in your RFQ

  • Registered alloy and complete temper
  • Strip thickness, slit width, thickness/width tolerances and edge condition
  • Coil ID/OD, maximum coil mass, winding, camber and flatness
  • Surface, protective film/interleaving and permitted visual defects
  • Forming, bending, stamping, welding and finishing requirements
  • Certificate, inspection, coil traceability, packing, quantity and destination

Selection limits

  • 5052 alloy alone does not define temper, mechanical properties, bend performance, surface acceptance or coil tolerances.
  • H32, H34, O and other tempers are not interchangeable; final acceptance follows the ordered product standard and certified lot data.
