Carbon Steel Bar

Carbon steel bar is supplied as hot-rolled, cold-finished, drawn, peeled or ground round, square, hexagonal and flat sections, with grade, heat treatment, tolerance, surface and machining allowance specified.

Standards and supply condition

Manufacturing and processing

Billet is hot rolled or forged to section and supplied as rolled, normalized or heat treated as ordered.
Cold drawing, peeling, straightening, grinding and end cutting improve tolerance and machinability presentation.

Quality and acceptance controls

Match heat or coil identity, grade, product specification and delivery condition to the material certificate.
Check dimensions, tolerances, straightness or flatness, surface condition, marking and permitted repair.
Agree mechanical, impact, pressure, NDE or coating tests and third-party witness points before production.

Selection limits

Mechanical properties depend on section size, processing and heat-treatment condition, not grade number alone.
Cold-finished dimensional quality does not imply a heat-treatment or ultrasonic-testing requirement unless ordered.
