Carbon Steel Coil

Carbon steel coil covers hot-rolled and cold-rolled flat products for forming, fabrication and downstream coating; buyers must state route, designation, thickness, width, coil geometry, tolerances and surface requirements.

Specifications and dimensions

Thickness and width with the applicable hot-rolled or cold-rolled tolerance table
Coil inside diameter, maximum outside diameter, maximum mass and winding direction
Mill edge or trimmed edge, crown, flatness, telescoping and permitted welds

Standards and supply condition

ASTM A1011/A1011M hot-rolled sheet and strip or A1008/A1008M cold-rolled sheet
EN 10111 hot-rolled drawing products or EN 10130 cold-rolled low-carbon flat products where ordered

Manufacturing and processing

Hot-rolled coil is rolled from slab, cooled under controlled conditions, coiled and optionally pickled and oiled.
Cold-rolled coil receives pickling, cold reduction, annealing, temper rolling and surface finishing as ordered.

Stamping, roll forming and general fabrication
Pipe, tube, decking and profile production
Galvanizing, prepainting and appliance components

Quality and acceptance controls

Match heat or coil identity, grade, product specification and delivery condition to the material certificate.
Check dimensions, tolerances, straightness or flatness, surface condition, marking and permitted repair.
Agree mechanical, impact, pressure, NDE or coating tests and third-party witness points before production.

Selection limits

Hot-rolled and cold-rolled designations are not interchangeable because surface, tolerance and forming behavior differ.
Published thickness ranges are not stock promises; mill capability and ordered standard must be confirmed.
