Carbon Steel Products

Carbon steel products include flat steel, pipe, bars and rolled structural sections; each order must identify the service-specific product standard, grade, delivery condition, dimensions, inspection and traceability.

Product forms

Specifications and dimensions

  • Flat products: hot-rolled and cold-rolled coil and sheet
  • Tubular products: seamless and welded pipe ordered by service standard
  • Long products: bars, angles and rolled structural sections

Standards and supply condition

  • ASTM product standards vary by flat product, pipe, bar or structural section
  • EN, JIS and GB systems require the ordered product standard, not grade-name matching alone

Manufacturing and processing

  • Steelmaking, casting, hot rolling and controlled cooling establish the primary product and delivery condition.
  • Cold rolling, heat treatment, forming, welding, machining, coating and cutting are product-specific secondary routes.

Typical applications

  • Buildings, bridges and transport infrastructure
  • Machinery, pressure equipment and industrial fabrication
  • Process, utility, water and pipeline systems

Quality and acceptance controls

  • Match heat or coil identity, grade, product specification and delivery condition to the material certificate.
  • Check dimensions, tolerances, straightness or flatness, surface condition, marking and permitted repair.
  • Agree mechanical, impact, pressure, NDE or coating tests and third-party witness points before production.

Include in your RFQ

  • Grade and governing product specification
  • Hot-rolled or cold-rolled route and delivery condition
  • Dimensions, tolerances, length or coil geometry and quantity
  • Surface, edge or end preparation and coating requirement
  • Mechanical, impact, pressure, NDE and inspection-document requirements
  • Marking, traceability, packing, destination and delivery term

Selection limits

  • A grade designation does not define product form, thickness range, toughness, weldability or delivery condition.
  • Cross-standard substitution requires engineering review of the complete ordered specification and service requirements.
