PE Polyester PPGL Coil

PE Polyester PPGL Coil is prepainted 55% aluminum-zinc alloy-coated steel using a broadly used polyester coil-coating option for cost-controlled fabrication; selection must still verify formability, ultraviolet exposure, corrosion environment and the complete paint build.

03Product variant

Specifications and dimensions

  • State whether thickness is base-metal or finished coated thickness, plus width, tolerances and edge condition.
  • State coil inside diameter, maximum outside diameter or mass, winding direction, camber and telescoping limits.
  • Define pretreatment, primer, top-coat and back-coat dry-film thickness, color, gloss, texture and protective film.

Standards and supply condition

  • ASTM A792/A792M-25a for the ordered 55% aluminum-zinc alloy-coated steel substrate
  • ASTM A755/A755M-18(2024) for applicable exterior building prepainted metallic-coated sheet
  • BS EN 10169:2022 for applicable continuously organic-coated steel flat products

Manufacturing and processing

  • The metallic-coated substrate is cleaned and pretreated before primer, finish coat and back coat are roll applied and oven cured.
  • The coated strip is cooled, inspected and recoiled, then may be slit, filmed or roll formed under controls that protect the coating.

Typical applications

  • Interior panels, ceilings and partitions
  • Appliance housings, doors and general fabricated panels
  • Roofing or cladding only where the specified system is qualified for the exposure

Quality and acceptance controls

  • Verify substrate grade, heat or coil identity, metallic-coating designation and coating mass against the certificate.
  • Measure primer, top-coat and back-coat dry-film thickness using the agreed method and sampling plan.
  • Check color difference, gloss, texture, surface appearance and batch consistency against approved references.
  • Confirm adhesion, T-bend or flexibility, impact resistance and pencil hardness where required by the order.
  • Specify salt-spray, condensation, ultraviolet or chemical-resistance testing only with method, duration and acceptance criteria.
  • Inspect edge condition, winding, marking, protective film and moisture-resistant export packing.

Include in your RFQ

  • Substrate grade and governing metallic-coated steel standard
  • Metallic-coating type, designation and coating mass
  • Named organic coating system and supplier product where approval is required
  • Pretreatment, primer, top coat, back coat and each dry-film thickness
  • Color standard, color tolerance, gloss, texture and visual reference
  • Thickness basis, width, tolerances, coil geometry, edge and quantity
  • End use, exposure environment, corrosivity, ultraviolet level and design life
  • Forming profile, minimum bend, protective film and downstream process
  • Test methods, inspection documents, approved sample and warranty terms
  • Packing orientation, moisture protection, destination and delivery schedule

Selection limits

  • A resin-family label alone does not define formulation, pigment, primer, back coat, film build or verified performance.
  • No universal warranty or service life follows from PE, SMP, HDP or PVDF naming; use the named supplier system, exposure conditions and written warranty.
  • PPGI and PPGL are not automatic substitutes; cut edges, fasteners, condensation, alkaline contact and underside exposure require project review.
  • Color and gloss can vary with pigment, batch, film thickness, measurement geometry and weathering, so approval samples and tolerances must be explicit.
