Overview
EN 10025 is a multi-part European product-standard series for hot-rolled structural steels. Procurement requires the correct series part, complete steel name, delivery condition, product dimensions and EN 10025-1 general requirements; writing only S235, S355 or a material number leaves essential toughness and delivery information unresolved.
Designation and acceptance
The EN 10025 architecture separates general requirements in Part 1 from technical delivery conditions for different steel families in Parts 2 through 6. EN 10025-2:2019 covers non-alloy structural steels, while other parts address normalized or thermomechanically rolled weldable fine-grain steels, atmospheric-corrosion-resistant steels and quenched-and-tempered high-yield steels. The complete steel name and relevant material number must be read with the selected part.

Performance
- Minimum yield strength can vary with nominal thickness, so the short grade name is not a single universal design value.
- Impact class and test temperature must match the service and project rules, especially for cold or fatigue-sensitive structures.
- Weld performance depends on the delivered chemistry, carbon-equivalent information, thickness and qualified fabrication procedure.
