Overview
EN 10028 is a seven-part European series for flat steel products used for pressure purposes. Part 1 gives general requirements and the remaining parts separate non-alloy, alloy, fine-grain, nickel-alloy, quenched-and-tempered and stainless families. Procurement must identify the correct part, complete steel name, dimensions, delivery condition and pressure-equipment acceptance basis.
Designation and acceptance
EN 10028 is a multi-part pressure-product system: Part 1 establishes general requirements, while Parts 2 through 7 provide technical delivery conditions for distinct steel families. A grade from one part cannot be replaced by a similar-looking designation from another part on strength alone. Material conformity also does not by itself establish suitability for a specific pressure vessel, operating temperature or regulatory regime.

- Hot-rolled pressure-purpose plate ordered to the selected technical-delivery part.
- Flat products for welded pressure equipment within the applicable thickness and condition scope.
- Stainless or alloy pressure flat products only under their respective series part, not a generic EN 10028 callout.
Processing
- Preserve delivery-condition identity and heat traceability throughout cutting and forming.
- Qualify welding, forming and heat treatment against material, thickness and pressure-code requirements.
- Coordinate NDE, repair, inspection hold points and material identification with the equipment quality plan.
