Seamless, ERW, LSAW or SSAW manufacturing route where permitted by the product standard
Random or fixed length, straightness, end squareness, bevel, thread, coupling or groove

Standards and supply condition

ASTM A53/A53M, ASTM A106/A106M or another service-specific pipe specification
API Specification 5L for line pipe or EN 10210/10219 for applicable structural hollow sections

Manufacturing and processing

Seamless pipe is pierced, rolled or drawn, heat treated and sized under its product specification.
Welded pipe is formed and seam welded, then sized, heat treated where required, inspected and pressure or electric tested.

Oil and gas pipelines and structural piling under the proper specification

Quality and acceptance controls

Match heat or coil identity, grade, product specification and delivery condition to the material certificate.
Check dimensions, tolerances, straightness or flatness, surface condition, marking and permitted repair.
Agree mechanical, impact, pressure, NDE or coating tests and third-party witness points before production.

Selection limits

Pipe grade names do not make pressure pipe, line pipe and structural tube interchangeable.
Schedule is a wall designation, not a universal measured thickness for every size and specification.
