03Grade-product
Standards and supply condition
- API Specification 5L, 47th edition; order the applicable PSL and all supplementary or service requirements.
- Pipeline design and integrity requirements remain separate from the product specification.
Manufacturing and processing
- Supply seamless or welded pipe only through the approved API 5L manufacturing route and delivery condition.
- Welding, expansion, heat treatment and coating remain subject to approved controls.
Typical applications
- Long-distance oil and gas transmission where the approved material specification and project qualification identify X70.
- High-pressure transmission or gathering systems with defined integrity and service requirements.
Quality and acceptance controls
- Match grade, manufacturing type, heat or lot, dimensions and ordered edition to the MTR and marking.
- Verify hydrostatic or permitted nondestructive electric testing and any project NDE.
- Inspect wall, ovality, straightness, ends, surface, coating where applicable, marking and export protection.
Include in your RFQ
- Exact designation and governing product-standard edition
- Product form, dimensions, tolerances and quantity
- Delivery condition, temper, coating or surface treatment
- Service environment, fabrication route and applicable design code
- Testing, inspection, certificate and traceability requirements
- Packing, marking, destination and required delivery date
Selection limits
- X70 does not define design pressure, fracture arrest, sour-service qualification, field welding procedure or corrosion life.
- Do not substitute API 5L grades or non-line-pipe standards without full engineering and code review.
