Standards and supply condition

ASTM A653/A653M with A924/A924M general requirements
EN 10346 or JIS G 3302 where those designation systems are ordered

Manufacturing and processing

Cold- or hot-rolled substrate is cleaned, continuously annealed and immersed in molten zinc.
Air knives regulate coating, followed by cooling, skin passing, tension leveling and chemical or oil treatment.

Quality and acceptance controls

Verify the base steel or base pipe specification separately from the zinc-coating requirement.
Confirm coating method, designation or mass, adhesion, surface treatment, dimensions and visual acceptance.
Inspect cut edges, ends, threads, passivation, storage condition, wet-storage protection and bundle or coil packing.

Spangle, passivation, oiling, anti-fingerprint, end or thread requirement
Testing, inspection document, marking and traceability

Selection limits

Coating designations from ASTM, EN, JIS and GB systems are not numerically interchangeable without method review.
Wet-storage stain and cut-edge corrosion require packaging, drainage and maintenance controls.
